PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce production cost and environmental load by stabilizing the discharge of ink in the restarting of the discharge to shorten a preparation time and reduce the quantity of the ink to be used in preliminary discharge. SOLUTION: A nozzle head 103 moved to a waiting position is adjusted to face an ink reservoir 104. The droplets 101a of the ink 101 is discharged toward the ink reservoir 104 in this state. When a nozzle 103a is made possible to bring into contact with the surface of ink 101 stored in the ink reservoir 104, the nozzle 103a is made close to the ink reservoir 104 to bring the nozzle 103a into contact with the surface of the ink 101 stored in the ink reservoir 104. In such a way, the nozzle 103a is brought into close contact with the surface of the ink 101 to suppress vaporization of a solvent in the ink 101 stored in the ink reservoir 104.
