PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for generating a highly precise line drawing image by using a simple algorithm which is processed by the image pickup device single body. SOLUTION: When an operation mode is set to a line drawing image photography mode, a microcomputer 117 obtains imaged data brighter than appropriate light exposure and imaged data darker than the appropriate light exposure by continuously operating a shutter diaphragm 103 and an imaging device 106. Then, the microcomputer 117 performs flag processing with respect to the imaged data brighter than the appropriate light exposure and the image pickup data darker than the appropriate light exposure respectively, generates flag data showing positions of outline parts of subjects in both of the imaged data, and generates line drawing images according to the flag data.
