PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect and track a target even in a low SNR environment. SOLUTION: A target tracking apparatus comprises: a first signal processing section 4 provided with a first detecting processor 6 for detecting the target from a received signal by using a TBD (Track Before Detect) algorithm, and a first tracking processor for tracking the target on the basis of its detection result; a second signal processing section 8 provided with a second detecting processor 10 for detecting the target from the received signal at a rate higher than the first detecting processor 6, and a second tracking processor 11 for tracking the target on the basis of its detection result; and a process determiner 3 for causing only the first signal processing section 4 to operate if the target is not detected by the first detecting processor 6, combining the first and the second signal processing sections 4, 8 if the target is detected by the first detecting processor 6 and the target is not detected by the second detecting processor 10, causing only the second signal processing section 8 to operate if the target is detected by the second detecting processor 10, and determining a processing system of the received signal.
