The invention provides a fan ( 10 ) with a blade ( 12 ), suitable for use as a ceiling fan. Blade ( 12 ) may be regarded as a single blade, although shaft ( 18 ) is not attached to blade ( 12 ) at one end thereof; rather, shaft ( 18 ) is attached to blade ( 12 ) at a point between first end ( 14 ) and second end ( 16 ).
