The device (11) has a rotating knob (21) comprising a rotating knob housing (22) for rotating an electrical device (13), and a signal unit generating signals based on a position and/or position change of the housing. A power supply is provided for the rotating knob, and a luminous display (32) is arranged in the rotating knob. The luminous display has an organic LED-coating that is applied on areas in an inner side of the rotating knob by a printing process. A signal controller for the display is arranged in the rotating knob, where the rotating knob is connected with magnetic retaining units. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an operating device.
