PURPOSE: A character input method and a system thereof for conveniently inputting contents that a user desired in a mobile terminal are provided to minimize the frequency of key input. CONSTITUTION: A vowel generation key(250) generates a vowel of key arrangements displayed on a touch screen. The vowel generation key is allocated in an arbitrary domain among the key arrangements. The vowel generation key inputs a user gesture. The mobile terminal generates the vowel corresponding to the user gesture generated in the vowel generation key. The mobile terminal displays the vowel on the touch screen.
