摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of executing regeneration process of a catalyst while stabilizing combustion in a cylinder even if back pressure is increased for raising exhaust gas temperature. <P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine 1A is provided with a pulse supercharging valve 12 arranged in an upstream side of an intake valve 7 opening and closing an intake passage 5, an exhaust emission control catalyst 11 arranged in the exhaust gas passage 6 and purifying exhaust gas, an exhaust gas flow adjusting valve 16 arranged in an upstream of the exhaust emission control catalyst and adjusting exhaust gas flow flowing in the exhaust gas passage, and an operation control means 20 starting regeneration process of the exhaust emission control catalyst and opening the pulse supercharging valve after opening the intake valve in intake stroke after reducing opening of the exhaust flow adjusting valve. Since remaining gas can be exhausted to an exhaust passage side even if back pressure is increased for raising exhaust gas temperature, stability of combustion is secured and oil dilution can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
