<p>PURPOSE: A catalytic combustor and a fuel reformer with the same are provided to improve thermal efficiency using conduction and convection simultaneously for uniform thermal gradient. CONSTITUTION: A catalytic combustor(100) comprises a housing(30), catalyst(50), and a mesh layer(60). The housing comprises a cylinder-shaped reaction unit(10), a second reaction unit(20), and first and second openings(31,33). The second reaction unit surrounds the first reaction unit in the shape of a double pipe. The first and second openings are formed on one side of the first and second reaction units respectively, so the inner fluid of the first and second reaction units forms counter flow. The first opening supplies fuel and oxidant to the first reaction unit. The second opening discharges exhaust gas of the second reaction unit. The first and second reaction units are connected to each other. The catalyst is placed inside the first reaction unit. The mesh layer is inserted into the second reaction unit.</p> |
