发明名称 Improvements in automatic weighing and printing scales
摘要 524,851. Weighing-apparatus. TOLEDO SCALE MANUFACTURING CO. Feb. 9, 1939, No. 4252. Convention date, June 1, 1938. [Class 143] An automatic weighing and printing scale comprises a light type disc bearing higher order type characters on its face, a pivotally mounted arcuate strip of thin light material located in the plane of the disc and bearing type characters for a lower order of weight, and means (pawl mechanism) adapted to engage locating devices (notched surfaces) for moving the type disc after attainment of equilibrium, for the purpose of correctly positioning the type disc in the required printing position relatively to the arcuate type strip. In obtaining a printed record, a record paper is inserted between a platen 16, and a type disc 1 and units printing strip 13. When the load is applied to the scale the type disc is automatically rotated to a position corresponding to the weight. The operator closes a transitory switch and causes the core 26 of a solenoid 27 to rise and lift the sliding bar 30. During the first part of the movement, a spring- pressed jaw 38 on the bar, gripping a friction block 40, rocks a bell-crank lever 43. The initial movement of the bell-crank lever 43 permits a light wire detent to descend upon the edge of the printing disc 1. If the wire detent enters one of a number of equi-distant notches 55 in the disc it moves the disc slightly to prevent a pawl 45 (actuated as described below) from engaging and damaging the corner of an adjacent notch. Further movement of the bell-crank lever 43 allows a brake to press on the edge of the printing disc. The pawl 45 is pivoted on the bell-crank lever 43 and now engages the edge of the printing disc and slides therealong until it rides into one of the notches 55. In entering the notch, the pawl also enters one of a series of notches in a ratchet sector 64, the sector consequently being displaced together with the type disc by the further advance of the pawl until the pawl is stopped by a jam bracket 66 and temporarily locked by a latch 67. The movement of the ratchet sector 64 is transmitted to a lever 12 carrying the arcuate printing strip 13. On further upward movement of the bar 30, slipping occurs at the friction block 40, and a finger 77 on the bar 30 allows a wire detent to enter a notched quadrant 78 projecting from the lever 12 in order to set the arcuate strip 13 accurately. In this manner the correct units digit on the strip 13 is aligned with the tens and hundreds on the disc 1. During the final upward movement of the bar 30 the latch 67 is liberated and the solenoid operating in the manner described in Specification 345,683, makes an impression of the weight on the paper and breaks the circuit. The core of the solenoid is pulled down by a spring and the parts are restored to their first positions.
