A deployable cutting element assembly (400) comprising a distal link (404) including a first end and a second end; a cutting element (408) connected to said distal link; a first elongated link (402) hingely connected to said first end of said distal link; and a second elongated link (406) aligned generally parallel with respect to said first elongated link and hingedly connected to said second end of said distal link, wherein said cutting element is moveable from a first configuration to a second configuration by axially displacing said first elongated link relative to said second elongated link.
