PURPOSE: A device and a method for receiving a signal using a rake receiver and an equalizer in a wireless communication system are provided to select an optimized receiver according to a wireless channel environment, thereby increasing receiving performance. CONSTITUTION: When a reset receiver is a rake receiver, a receiver calculates an SNR prediction value of the rake receiver and the equalizer by an average and a standard deviation of an SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) value of the rake receiver, an average and a standard deviation of an SNR value of the equalizer, and a set weight value(403,405). When the calculated x value is larger than a calculated y value, a receiving end selects the equalizer as an optimum receiver(409,411). When x value is not larger than y value, the receiving end selects the rake receiver as an optimum receiver(413).
