SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING FORWARD POWER ACCORDING SYMBOL ERROR RATE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A system for controlling forward power according to a symbol error rate and a control method thereof are provided to prevent unnecessary power consumption by resetting a forward power gain in a corresponding base station according to a control signal of a base station controller when handoff occurs. CONSTITUTION: A base station transmits an SER(Symbol Error Rate) of a signal of a mobile communication terminal to a BSC(Base Station Controller)(S1,S3), and the base station controller classifies two base stations into a reference base station(A BS) and a sub base station(B BS)(S7). If the symbol error rate of the sub base station is larger than a preset SER value, the base station controller transmits the power control signal to the sub base station(S27,S33). The base station resets a power gain value for forward power control(S35).
