APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR UNLOCKING A LOCKING MODE OF PORTABLE TERMINAL

PURPOSE: A method and a device for canceling the lock mode of the portable terminal are provided to selectively perform rapid dialing of a specific user, rapid execution of specific application or the entry to the standby screen according to function information mapped to corresponding gesture. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal activate a gesture input mode if the portable terminal is in lock status(S105,S109). If a touch input is a gesture input of a specific pattern, the portable terminal distinguishes gesture(S111~S123). If corresponding gesture exists, the portable terminal extracts a corresponding function mapped in gesture(S125,S129). The portable terminal cancels the lock mode. The portable terminal executes the extracted function(S131).
