METHOD FOR DISSECTING PARAPHARYNGEAL PHLEGMONS WITH THREAT OF EXPANDING INTO NECK

A method for dissecting parapharyngeal phlegmons with the threat of expanding into the neck comprises the cut in parallel to the lower edge of the mandible. The tissues are cut along the projection of the upper pole of the submandibular gland until the posterior edge of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Then the cut follows along the muscle downwards until the inferior edge of the thyroid cartilage. The tissues are dissected until prevertebrate fascial plate accessing the major neurovascular bundle of the neck.
