The invention comprises a method and an apparatus for image guided radiotherapy, comprising: an electron beam source as a common source for generating both, an imaging photon beam as well as a therapy photon beam with a photon energy higher than the photon energy of the imaging photon beam. A therapy target and an imaging target are used, the imaging target comprising at least one crystal. The therapy photon beam is generated by irradiating the therapy target with the electron beam source. The imaging photon beam is generated by arranging the imaging target relative to the electron beam source with an angle between a crystal axis of the crystal's lattice and a direction of propagation of the electron beam source. Imaging photon beam is generated through the emission of coherent bremsstrahlung.
