529,709. Protecting internal surfaces against corrosion. BENGOUGH, G. D. Feb. 22, 1939, No. 5867. [Class 113 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] Bulkheads and other internal iron or steel surfaces B of ships and other structures in which oil or other liquids are stored or conveyed, are protected from corrosion by providing easily replaceable additional iron or steel surfaces A. The latter are disposed relatively close to, but need not extend as low as, the surfaces B, and they may be rendered slightly anodic relative to the surfaces B. Ribs or the like may be attached to either the surfaces A or to the surfaces B to prevent frequent interchange of the liquid. One or more baskets or cages C, which may be formed of, and may contain, expanded metal, may be arranged adjacent hatches or like openings D, and may be lowered When not required. |
