[Class 53] An accumulator cell is closed by a skirted or hollowed lid 3 bedded in to the upper part with acid-proof soft rubber 6, and retained in position, by a cross bar 17 bearing on members 15 spanning the pole pieces 10, 11 but insulated therefrom. The cross-bar 17 is secured by a band 18 hooked over one end and retained on the other in a quick-release manner, for example, by means of a ring 20 and a camhook 21. The pressure on the polepieces keeps in position the connecting links between cells and also presses the plates 7 firmly on ridges 8 at the bottom of the cells. |
