<p>Provided is a magnetostrictive torque sensor (10) for detecting a rotational torque on an axis, which is applied to a rod-shaped spindle (11), on the basis of the changes in the magnetic characteristics of a magnetostrictive film formed on the surface of the spindle (11) and all over the entire circumference. A magnetostrictive film (14) is formed axially continuously on a portion of the spindle in the axial direction. The magnetostrictive film (14) comprises a first magnetostrictive film portion (14A) and a second magnetostrictive film portion (14B), which are continuously formed but have magnetic anisotropy in directions reverse to each other, and a third magnetostrictive film portion (14C) formed between the first and second magnetostrictive film portions. Moreover, a first detection coil (13A), a second detection coil (13B) and a third detection coil (13C) are disposed for the first magnetostrictive film portion, the second magnetostrictive filin portion and the third magnetostrictive film portion, respectively.</p> |
