<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which saves the trouble of operation at the time of performing reprinting and has good usability. <P>SOLUTION: The printer is made to preserve in the printer raster data of a file subjected to direct printing when it performs direct printing for the file. Moreover, if a user desires a plurality of files (a file A and a file C in the example) as an object of direct printing, raster data of each of these files is collected in a job and registered in the printer while being prevented from registered separately as individual data.
