PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reducing a current consumption in an operation device for a vehicle. SOLUTION: A sensor (a light emitting section 7a and a light receiving section 7b) is attached to the touch panel 1 of a prompter operation device for a vehicle. When the sensor detects the completion of the operation of the touch panel 1 by an occupant, a timer starts a measurement treatment. After the timer measures a predetermined time, the supply of a current to a video camera 2 for photographing the finger of the occupant on the touch panel 1 and a display 5 is stopped.
