The tool has a mold (10) for shaping a composite material (11). Bearing structures (15a, 15b) and sealed fixing units (16a, 16b) hold a cover (17) around the mold or above two opposite ends (18a, 18b) of the mold on a developable surface to form a space (21) that is sealed against air between the cover and the mold. A vacuum generating unit generates vacuum between the cover and the mold, where the mold includes a vacuum source (20). Connecting units have vacuum tracks (13a, 13b) and connect the sealed space between the cover and the mold with the vacuum source. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabrication of a composite material part.
