[Class 17 (iii)] A number of small protectors 4 are detachably secured to a sole or heel by the engagement of screws 6 with threaded sockets 8 projecting into the sole &c. from plates 10 on the reverse side. The plates are prevented from turning by spikes 11, or by small pins driven through holes in them into the sole &c. or by forming the sockets 8 of square &c. section. The protectors are recessed into the sole, and may be of rubber, fibre, leather, metal etc.; they may be provided on their tread faces with gripping means to prevent slipping. Two or more bosses 8 may be associated with the one plate 10. |
