PURPOSE: A channel selection apparatus and a method thereof in a digital broadcast receiver selecting a channel in a selected picture quality mode are provided to select the channels of the picture quality mode selected by a user by selecting channel signals. CONSTITUTION: A channel searcher(204) performs the entire channel scan based on digital broadcast signal. A decoder(206) performs a decoding test about the scanned channel signal. A controller(208) selects channel signals and selects an picture quality mode based on a decoding test result. If a channel setting command about the specific picture quality mode is received, the controller does not include the channel signal except for the channel signal of the specific picture quality mode. |
