PURPOSE: Devices using redundant array of independent disks and methods thereof are provided to select one of RAID levels to access at least one of non volatile memory chips, thereby increasing reliability of data. CONSTITUTION: A RAID(Redundant Array of Independent/Inexpensive Disk) controller(110) transmits and receives data to and from a host. The RAID controller selects one of RAID levels based on RAID level information. An SSD(Solid State Controller) controller(100) includes an access controller(140). The access controller is connected to the RAID controller. The access controller accesses at least one of non volatile memory chips(153,155,157,163,165,167,173,175,177) connected to channels(CH1~CHn) to process the data according to the selected RAID level.
