PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and an image processing method are provided to enable a user to monitor a vehicle from every direction by continuously shifting the viewpoints and view directions. CONSTITUTION: An image processing apparatus(100) comprises an image memory unit(111), a camera image acquiring unit(110), a projected plane shape maintaining unit(120), a view movement control unit(130), an image conversion unit(140), a display unit(150), and a periodic drawing trigger generating unit(160). The image memory unit memorizes image data recorded by cameras(101~104). The camera image acquiring unit inputs image data on the image memory unit. The projected plane shape maintaining unit maintains the 3D coordinates on the projected plane in respect to the surroundings of the vehicle. The view movement control unit determines view information.
