PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for measuring a member are provided to enable a member measuring device to recognize the end of the member using a cross hair laser beam. CONSTITUTION: A member measuring apparatus(200) comprises a recognition unit(210), an image processing unit(230), an image determining unit(240), and a movement control unit(220). The recognition unit irradiates laser beam on a member and obtains cross hair laser beam images. The recognition unit comprises a laser beam irradiating apparatus and a camera unit for obtaining laser beam images. The image processing unit extracts a singular point from the cross hair laser beam image obtained by the recognition unit. The image determining unit recognizes the end of the member using the singular point.
