PURPOSE: An image processor and a control method for obtaining black and white print out from image data by using a scanner are provided to improve the reproducibility of the gray of the manuscript and increase the scanning speed. CONSTITUTION: A determining unit determines that a first instruction for scanning the manuscript by using an RGB(Red, Green, Blue) and a second instruction for reading the manuscript by using a BW(Black/White) sensor. In case of the first instruction, s scanning unit(200) scans the manuscript by using the RGB sensor. In case of the second instruction, the scanning unit scans the manuscript by using the BW sensor. A generating unit generates the BW image data by scanning the manuscript.
