543,647. Compressing gases. ZEHNDER RADIATOREN, & APPARATEBAU, GEB. Aug. 30, 1940, No. 13653. Convention date, July 12,1939. Addition to 504,593. [Class 8 (i)] In a refrigerant compressor, the suction stroke in the cylinder 5 is effected by the pressure of incoming vapour, while the pressure stroke is effected by an electric motor 44 automatically connected, an endless conveyor 70 being employed, which drives the motor during the suction stroke and is driven thereby during the compression stroke, the motor circuit being closed by a thermo-static switch 62, 40, and being interrupted by a control bolt 80 actuated by the piston at one point of the stroke, where it is released, allowing the switch to open if the temperature has fallen sufficiently. The piston rod carries a crosspiece 18<SP>1</SP> engaging a pin or pins on a conveyor chain. An uni-directional coupling may be provided between the motor and the conveyer wheels. The motor may be connected and disconnected by an electric relay operated by the switch 62, 40. |
