A device for cleaning the inside surface of a heat exchanger tube (2) of a heat exchanger (4), in particular a preheat exchanger of a CANDU reactor, with blasting agent, contains a pressure line (10) that carries the blasting agent and a gas, with an input-side coupling element (12), for connecting the pressure line (10), to at least one heat exchanger tube (2). The gas/particle mixture consisting of gas, blasting agent and material removed by the blasting agent is routed to a separator through a suction line (26). There is an expansion chamber (16) between the outlet side end of the at least one heat exchanger tube (2) and the separator (2) and the speed of the gas/particle mixture is reduced in this expansion chamber (16). There is at least one inlet channel (20) to introduce the extraneous gas (FG) in the area of the expansion chamber (16). As a result of these measures, the speed of the particles that are being transported by the gas is efficiently reduced before they flow into the suction line (26), so that the particles do not build up in the suction line (26) or in the heat exchanger tubes (2).
