An electronic device capable of deriving power from a host computing device when connected to said host computing device through a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection, and a method for initiating powering up of a processor in the electronic device compliant with the enumeration period defined by the USB standard is described herein. In one embodiment, the electronic device comprises a power management unit (PMU) electrically coupled to the processor, and a timing unit coupled to the PMU and a power supply connection, wherein the PMU is configured for managing power allocated to the processor. The timing unit is configured to send electrical signals to input terminals of the PMU after a time period t1 compatible with an operating specification of the PMU, and in response to any of the insertable battery pack, AC power supply and auxiliary power supply being connected to the electronic device. |
