PRODUCTION OF PEPTIDE AND PROTEIN BY ACCUMULATION IN PLANT ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM-DERIVED PROTEIN BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternative system for producing objective peptide and protein in a plant host system.

SOLUTION: There are provided a nucleic acid molecule comprising a first nucleic acid sequence containing a nucleotide sequence that encodes γ-zein protein or its fragment delivering and retaining a protein towards an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) of a plant cell; a second nucleic acid sequence containing a nucleotide sequence that encodes an amino acid sequence that is specifically cleavable by enzymatic or chemical means; and a third nucleic acid sequence containing a nucleotide sequence that encodes the objective peptide or protein. There is provided a method of using the nucleic acid molecule for transforming host plant cells and producing the objective peptide or protein.
