<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high luminous efficiency light-emitting device capable of improving light-coupling efficiency from a light-emitting element to a light-transmitting member, and achieving high luminance light emission. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting device includes the light-transmitting member having a light-emitting surface and a light-receiving surface of the light-emitting device, the light-emitting element having an outgoing surface facing to the light-receiving surface and joined to the light-transmitting member, a light-guiding member for guiding light emitted from the light-emitting element to the light-transmitting member, which is provided so as to extend from the surface of the light-emitting element to the surface of the light-transmitting member. The light-guiding member includes a joining area in which the outgoing surface of the light-emitting element and the light-receiving surface of the light-transmitting member are joined so as to be facing each other, and a first covering area covering one surface of the light-emitting element and the light-transmitting member, each extending from the joining area and protruding outside the joining area.
