PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a battery of a battery pack from being reused by being replaced with an irregular battery. SOLUTION: If and when the battery pack is taken apart and brand-new single-cell batteries 13 are replaced, voltages of the single-cell batteries 13 are applied to a microcomputer 21. The microcomputer 21, at its initialization point, checks the voltages of the single-cell batteries 13. If and when the voltages of the single-cell batteries are more than the voltages showing that the single-cell batteries 13 are in a charged state, the microcomputer 21 memorizes predetermined signals on a RAM 21a.
