PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the flow wear of a base of a cutter bit piece by preventing the accumulation of excavated sediment between the cutter bit pieces. SOLUTION: This cutter head 4, which is driven in such a manner as to be normally or reversely rotated on the longitudinal axis of a tunnel, includes the cutter bit pieces 5a and 5b which are arranged at a spacing in the rotational diameter direction B of the cutter head 4, and a spacer 13 which is provided between the cutter bit pieces 5a and 5b. The cutter bit pieces 5a and 5b comprise a shank 8 which is welded to the cutter head 4, a pair of carbide tips 6 and 7 which are provided at a spacing in the rotational circumferential direction A of the cutter head 4 on the shank 8, and a backside portion 9 which is formed in such a valley shape that the center in the rotational circumferential direction A is depressed. The spacer 13 is provided with a sediment flowing portion 14 for the spacer, which is formed in a mountain shape so as to discharge the excavated sediment, flowing in between the cutter bit pieces 5a and 5b from a valley bottom 9c of the backside portion 9 of the cutter bit pieces 5a and 5b during the rotation of the cutter head 4, in one and the other one of the rotational circumferential directions A.
