<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cellulose ester film having a sufficient birefringence, and without getting any of the contamination of saponifying liquid or reduction of retardation in the saponification treatment process of producing a polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The cellulose ester film comprises: the cellulose ester; a specific polycyclic aromatic compound having a phenolic hydroxy group, which is a retardation-elevating agent; and an ester compound having ≥1 to ≤12 of at least one pyranose structure or furanose structure, in which the whole or a portion of the OH groups of the structure is esterified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
