PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce, as far as possible, the occurrence of defects or the like of a glass product which is caused by flowing-out of molten glass having inappropriate variation in melting states by suitably supplying a glass raw material from rear wall part of a glass melting furnace to make the distribution state of the glass raw material on the molten glass in the furnace satisfactory. SOLUTION: A raw material charging port 5 for supplying the powdery glass raw material 3 onto the molten glass 4 in the glass melting furnace 1 is formed at a plurality of places in the width direction in the rear wall part 2 of the glass melting furnace 1 and screw feeders 6 are provided to respective rear sides of the plurality of the raw material charging ports 5, and the separation dimensions P between the centers of the adjacent screw feeders 6 in the respective width directions is set to be >1 times and≤4.5 times of the opening width dimension L of the raw material charging port 5.
