PROJECTION DISPLAY APPARATUS

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display apparatus that displays a high-quality image by efficiently reducing scintillation, while suppressing reduction in use efficiency of light from a light source.

SOLUTION: The projection display apparatus includes: a condensing optical system 1 for emitting light from a light source; a light valve 2 having an image-forming region 2a for modulating incident light and emitting image light; a lighting optical system 4 for guiding the light from the condensing optical system 1 to the image-forming region 2a; a projection optical system 3 for enlarging and projecting the image light emitted from the image-forming region 2a; and a diffusion device 5 which is located in the vicinity of a position conjugated to the image forming region 2a in the lighting optical system 4 and has a structure in which a plurality of microscopic optical elements are regularly arranged on a reference surface perpendicular to light incident from the lighting optical system 4.
