<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit for printing watermark image sections in a desirable color when compositing the watermark image sections to original image data for printing. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing unit for compositing a watermark image to original image data sets the color of the image to be composited. A color to be reproduced in printing when the image is composed with the set color is obtained, and a print image, when the image to be composited is composed with the set color, is displayed on a display by the color. For example, a print sample, when characters are transmitted and composited to a background image of each color of a white ground, R, G, B, C, M, Y, K with a color and permeability selected by a user, is displayed.
