PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger that reliably charges a portable device without damaging it. SOLUTION: The charger is provided with an actuator 22 gradually moving up a support member 23 that supports the portable device 10 housed in a housing unit 21. In the actuator 22, a supporting state in which the portable device 10 is supported by the support member 23 is detected from a determination result at step S103. When an increase in a terminal voltage V is determined from a determination result from step S109, the actuator 22 is driven to gradually move up the support member 23 together with the portable device 10.
