Disclosed is a compound of formula (I), wherein B is a divalent radical selected from options as provided in the specification and A is cyclic ring. The remaining substituents are as defined in the specification. The compounds are histone deacetylase inhibitors useful in the treatment of a number of diseases and conditions including proliferative diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and autoimmune diseases.
