<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polypropylene-based resin foam especially having excellent surface smoothness and heat resistance, and further excellent in flexibility, compression recovery, cushioning characteristics, heat insulation, environmental adaptability, mechanical characteristics, and the like, and to provide the polypropylene-based resin foam produced by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the polypropylene-based resin foam includes: feeding a thermoplastic resin composition, containing a foam-nucleating agent in a compounded resin composition comprising 100 pts.wt. of a polypropylene resin having a melt flow rate of 0.2-5 g/10 min and 10-100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic elastomer, to an extruder; pressing carbon dioxide as a foaming agent into the extruder; and extruding and foaming the compound, using a circular die having a cell-forming part formed by the contraction of a resin passage and a foam-forming part for growing formed cells and smoothening the surface of the foam. The compound is extruded and foamed under a condition of 50-300 kg/cm<SP>2</SP>×h of the extruding rate V of the resin at the cell-forming part of the circular die, and≥7 MPa of a resin pressure at this side of the circular die in the method.
