<p>535,243. Rotary liquid distributer. HARTLEY, E. Dec. 14, 1939, No. 32178. [Class 69 (iii)] A water wheel driven rotary distributer of the kind described in Specification 261,852, [Class 69 (iii)], is provided with four or more distributer arms arranged to come into operation either singly or in pairs at different heads. When the arms are operated in pairs the arms are uniformly balanced for all rates of flow. The drawings show a distributer having four arms arranged in opposite pairs a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP>, and b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP> radiating from a central feed pan 10 suspended by a crosshead structure 18 from a suspension bearing 17 so that it may rock relatively to the central column as described in Specification 346,575. Liquid from the pan 10 is fed over a weir w and feeds the arms a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP> and the arms b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP> are fed over adjustable weirs x, y. The water wheel d may be fed by means described in Specification 262,680, [Class 69 (iii)], from a pipe c at a lower level than the distributer pipes so that the apparatus is in motion before the distributer arms are brought into action. The water wheel is counterbalanced as described in Specification 261,852, [Class 69 (iii)]. In place of the pairs of arms being parallel as shown they may be at right-angles to one another and the weirs may be replaced by pipes having U-bends thereon.</p> |
