METHOD AND DECODER FOR DECODING CODE USING MESSAGE PASSING SHOT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve error floor in the BP decoding of a low-density parity check (LDPC) code.

SOLUTION: A code decoded by message passing is given by a factor graph. The factor graph includes a variable node indexed by (i) and a restriction node indexed by (a). These nodes are connected by an edge for transferring a message mi→agetting out from the variable node to the restriction node, and the message ma→icoming in from the restriction node to the variable node. The message mi→ais initialized on the basis of the belief biof a received code term. The message ma→iis generated by overshooting the message mi→ain the restriction node. The belief biis updated by using the message ma→iin the variable node. The code term is output when it is found out, and the message mi→ais updated by using the correction of the overshoot when the code term is not found out.
