PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for accurately detecting whether or not there is a detecting object in a prescribed position without being affected by a change in the background of the detecting object. SOLUTION: This detector 10, which is a detector for detecting whether or not there is the detecting object in the prescribed position, includes: a digital camera 1a for photographing the prescribed position to output an image D1 consisting of the prescribed position and the background of the prescribed position; a digital camera 1b having the same photographing direction as the photographing direction of the digital camera 1a and photographing the prescribed position or the surroundings of the prescribed position to output an image D2 having the same background as the background of the image D1; a difference image generator 5 generating a difference image D3 which is the difference between the images D1 and D2; and a determiner 6 for determining whether or not there is the detecting object based on the difference image D3.
