PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy brazing sheet using a 6XXX series alloy as a core material, in which diffusion of a brazing material upon brazing is suppressed so as to achieve satisfactory brazing, and which has excellent strength by performing a suitable aging treatment after the brazing, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy brazing sheet is obtained by cladding one side or both sides of a core material with an Al-Si based brazing filler metal. The core material has a composition which comprises, by mass, 0.2 to 1.0% Si, 0.03 to 0.4% Fe, 0.1 to 0.5% Mg and 0.05 to 1.0% C, and in which an X value decided by the Si content Sic and the Cu content Cuc: X=6×Sic+2.5×Cuc satisfies the relation of 2.0≤X≤6.0, and further comprises one or more kinds selected from 0.05 to 0.3% Mn, 0.05 to 0.3% Zr and 0.05 to 0.3% Cr, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. Its metallic structure after final cold rolling includes intermetallic compounds of 0.05 to 1μm by 5 to 50 pieces perμm<SP>2</SP>in the observation of the cross-sectional structure.
