PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator monitoring device capable of installing a plurality of monitoring cameras without being affected by the structure of a building and the finish thereof, and preventing the appearance of the building from being impaired by the plurality of monitoring cameras after the installation, and preventing the monitoring cameras from forming any obstacle for passengers. SOLUTION: The escalator monitoring device is provided on an escalator having a protector which is provided on a narrow angle part formed between a bottom part 2a of one escalator out of two escalators adjacent to each other in a crossing manner and a movable handrail of the other escalator to prevent a passenger from being caught by the narrow angle part during the elevating operation of the escalator. A camera storage cylinder 20 provided in a vertically extending posture is provided in a vicinity of the protector on a rear end side of the protector when the upward direction of the escalator is defined as the forward direction. A first monitoring camera 21 and a second monitoring camera 22 are provided in the camera storage cylinder 20 in a vertically juxtaposed manner. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
