PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a malfunction of sheet carriage caused by an opening of a sheet discharge tray. SOLUTION: This sheet discharging device includes a sheet material discharging means including discharge roller pairs 9 for discharging an image-formed sheet material to the outside an image forming apparatus body, and the sheet discharge tray 8 for loading the discharged sheet material. The sheet discharge tray 8 is rotatably arranged in two states of a storage state and an extended state, and a projection of the discharge roller pairs 9 is inserted into an opposed position to the discharge roller pairs 9 in the storage state, and the opening 14 is formed for discharging the discharged sheet material to be brought into an opening state of opening the opening 14 when putting the sheet discharge tray 8 in the storage state, and an opening/closing member 11 is arranged to be brought into a closing state of blocking the opening 14 when putting the sheet discharge tray 8 in the extended state.
