PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica composite reclaimed particle exhibiting high oil absorption and capable of improving the opacity of paper because the improvement of a filler is required in the view point of the improvement of the printing opacity of a lightweight coated paper, to provide a method for producing the silica composite reclaimed particle, and to provide the lightweight coated paper obtained by adding the silica composite reclaimed particles to the inside. SOLUTION: The silica composite reclaimed particles are obtained by using the reclaimed particles obtained by using a papermaking sludge as a main raw material and passing the raw material through dehydration, drying, burning and pulverizing steps, as a raw material, and subjecting the reclaimed particles to a silica-compositing step, and are regulated so that the pore volume of the obtained silica composite reclaimed particles may be 0.3-1.2 cc/g (a pore diameter of not more than 10,000Å).
