<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cancel a boundary line generated in a vertical direction of a screen due to arrangement of, for example, a light guide plate, in a side-edge type liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: A light guide plate is provided so as to guide illumination light from a light source such as an LED mainly in a vertical direction of a screen. A support member is provided first, if need, for reflecting the illumination light in a vertical direction. The illumination light guided in the vertical direction reflects at a rear-side face of the light guide plate due also to action of a reflection sheet, and further becomes uniform with a diffusion sheet, to be guided to liquid crystal. A border line in the vertical direction is more likely detected than that in a horizontal direction, but, as the illumination light is guided in the vertical direction first, a problem of the border line in the vertical direction is cancelled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
