Imidazolone phenylalanine derivatives as VLA-4 antagonists

Disclosed are imidazolone phenylalanine derivatives represented by general formula (I), or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein A is H, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted heteroaryl or -C(X)D(R3)Z and Q is an aryl or heteroaryl substituted imidazolone. Also disclosed is the use of the above mentioned compounds for the preparation of a medicament for treating a disease state caused or exacerbated at least in part by alpha 4 integrin-mediated leukocyte binding in a patient. Such diseases encompassed within the scope of the invention include autoimmune disease, multiple sclerosis, meningitis, encephalitis, stroke, asthma, adult respiratory distress syndrome, acute leukocyte-mediated lung injury, rheumatoid arthritis and the like.
